Immunize your little Michigander!

Immunizations prevent serious childhood illnesses. The Health Department offers regular immunization clinics at various sites throughout the Western Upper Peninsula. Check the clinic schedule for sites and times in your area.

Services

Tests and exams under this program include:

DtaP, DTP – Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough

IPV – Polio Vaccine

HiB – Haemophilus influenza Type B

MMR – Measles, Mumps, Rubella

HBV – Hepatitis B Vaccine

Td – Tetanus, Diptheria (for children over age 7 & college-age adults) Prevnar – Pneumococcal Conjugate

Eligibility

Children 18 years of age and younger who meet any of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Enrolled in Medicaid
  • Have no health insurance
  • Have health insurance, but immunizations are not covered American Indian or Alaskan Native
  • Served by a federally qualified health center/rural health center and are under-insured
Fees

By Appointment: $15.00 per child.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Q: Can my child be immunized when she is sick?

A: Inoculations can be given when a child is mildly ill (such as a cold or ear infection.) Children can receive inoculations while on antibiotics. Please do not bring in a child who has a contagious illness such as strep throat or chickenpox.

Q: Are childhood immunizations safe? Are they necessary?

A: Yes. If you have further questions about immunizations, please call your pediatrician or the health department, visit the Immunization Action Coalition website, or call the Center for Disease Control Immunization Information Hotline at 1-800-232-2522.
