Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death & disease.

Tobacco use kills more than 14,000 people each day, and is the cause of 1 in 10 adult deaths. Although the number of smokers has decreased dramatically over the last decade, tobacco still kills nearly 450,000 Americans annually.

Many of those who die as a result of tobacco use started using as early as their teenage years. It’s never too late to quit, and the Western UP Health Department offers support, information, and referral services for those who are looking to kick the habit.
