Tattoo Body Art and Establishment Regulation Other Programs | Foster Care | Pools and Spas | Campgrounds | Mobile Home Parks The Western Upper Peninsula District Health Department adopted a Body Art Code that became effective in Houghton, Baraga, Keweenaw, Ontonagon, and Gogebic counties on November 1, 2001. The Body Art Code requires permits for establishments and technicians, and includes sanitation guidelines and requirements for proper post-piercing care. The body art code mandates body art technicians take a Red Cross or other course with the OSHA required content on bloodborne pathogens. The Hepatitis B vaccination series must also be offered to all technicians employed by the body art establishment. The only state regulations on body art prohibit minors from getting tattoos or piercing unless they have consent from a legal guardian. Body Art Code |
