The Site Evaluation is first step in the process of determining if a parcel of land that does not have municipal water services available can be considered for an on-site water supply system.  Most raw land evaluations will deal with sewage suitability and water supply. After an application has been made, a sanitarian will evaluate the proposed site to determine if the conditions on the site meet the requirements the Michigan Well Code Part 127 – Act 368 and the Superior Environmental Health Code.  Some of the specific items that are examined during the evaluation are:

• Isolation distances to possible contamination sources(existing or planned)
• Distance to property lines
• Accessability for drill rig
• Accessability for maintenance after site development
• Well abandonment
