Food Service Inspections

Each of the 400+ licensed food service facilities across the Western Upper Peninsula are inspected by our Sanitarians on a routine basis. Inspections focus on maintaining sanitary conditions and safe food handling practices. Critical and noncritical violations found on inspections are required to be corrected within a set time period. Inspections are also required before a Temporary Food License can be issued. All licensed facilities must work within the rules set forth in the Michigan 1999 Food Code and the Michigan Food Law of 2000.
