Free health insurance for pregnant women, babies, and children


   The Healthy Kids program provides free health care coverage for children under the age of 19 and for pregnant women of any age throughout her pregnancy and for the first two months after the pregnancy ends.

Services

For pregnant women, coverage includes:

Check-ups (prenatal care) before your baby is born
Lab and x-ray tests
Prenatal vitamins
Delivery of your baby
Hospital care
Care of your baby after birth
Transportation assistance
Maternal support services (MSS)

Healthy Kids also covers most medically necessary needs including, but not limited to:

Ambulance
Dental visits
Doctors visits/well child visits
Family Planning Health check-ups
Hearing and speech
Medicine Hospice
Hospital care
Immunizations

Eligibility

Michigan resident
Pregnant women or child less than 19 years old
Can have other medical insurance
Must meet income guidelines

Fees

Free to qualified pregnant women and children less than 19 years old

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

   Q:   Can I have other health insurance?
   A: Yes, but you must meet the income guidelines.  The Healthy Kids representative can determine if you qualify.

   Q:  What kinds of information do I need to apply?
   A: You may be asked to provide some of the following: social security number, your family’s   gross income, current health and insurance numbers.  The Healthy Kids representative can discuss this with you prior to your appointment.

   Q:  What are the income guidelines?
   A: It is based on the number of dependents in the household and a certain percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).  Since these can change, it’s best to call the Healthy Kids representative and she’ll be happy to evaluate that for you.
