What are “Sharps”?

Sharps include: hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets, or anything else used to deliver medicine through the skin.

Who Can Participate?

Any local individual or household that generates sharps for medical purposes. Sharps generated by businesses or healthcare providers are not accepted.

What’s Required?

Sharps must be sealed within a puncture-resistant container, such as container made specifically for sharps collection or an empty laundry detergent bottle. The container must be sealed tightly to help avoid injury. Containers can be dropped off at any Health Department office during regular business hours.
