As temperatures drop this coming weekend and early next week, it’s essential to stay safe and warm. Here are some ways you can keep your family warm:

Dress Warmly: Wear layers of loose-fitting, warm clothing. Don’t forget a hat, gloves, and scarf to protect against frostbite.

Keep Your Home Safe: Keep your thermostat set to at least 68°F. If you use space heaters, make sure they are placed safely and never leave them unattended. Check that smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working.

Avoid Hypothermia and Frostbite: Limit time outdoors in extreme cold. If you must go outside, take frequent breaks in a warm place. Watch for signs of hypothermia (shivering, confusion, exhaustion) and frostbite (numbness, pale skin).

Don’t forget about your Pets: Keep them warm and dry, provide plenty of food and water and limit outside time.

Help Those in Need: Check on vulnerable neighbors, especially the elderly, young children, and those with disabilities. Share resources if possible.

Let’s keep warm and stay safe together this winter.
